CARE-C’s Dr George Zittis and Affiliates Listed Among Top 2% of 2025 World’s Leading Scientists

Dr George Zittis, Research Scientist at the Climate and Atmosphere Research Center (CARE-C) of the Cyprus Institute, has been listed in the August 2025 update of the prestigious “Updated science-wide author databases of standardised citation indicators”, compiled by Stanford University (USA) and published by Elsevier. Based on Scopus data, compiled by Stanford University and published by Elsevier, the list identifies the top 2% of most-cited scientists worldwide.

In addition to Dr Zittis, three CARE-C affiliate staff were also included in the list: Prof. Philippe Ciais, CARE-C Professor and Associate Director at the Laboratoire des Sciences du Climat et de l’Environnement (LCSE), Université Paris Saclay, Prof. Jos Lelieveld, CARE-C Professor and Director of the Max Planck Institute for Chemistry in Mainz, Germany, and Prof. Andrea Pozzer, CyI Adjunct Associate Professor and Group Leader at the Max Planck Institute for Chemistry, Mainz, Germany.

The database is based on an August 1, 2025, snapshot of Scopus data. Career-long data are updated to end-of-2024, and single recent year data pertain to citations received during calendar year 2024.
