CARE-C at the Week of Innovation Regions in Europe Conference

CARE-C actively participated at WIRE – the Week of Innovative Regions in Europe Conference, which took place on 13 – 14 November 2024, in Budapest, Hungary.  The event was organized by the National Research, Development and Innovation Office of Hungary under the Hungarian Presidency of the European Council, with the support of the European Commission.

Organized since 2010, the WIRE Conference is the main European policy forum for innovation and regional development. The event gathers actors active in the innovation and education ecosystem with the aim of improving science-based competitiveness. The 2024 iteration of the conference focused on the theme of “Regions as catalysts of European RDI competitiveness”, and discussed the role of regions in the reduction of fragmentation in the European innovation ecosystem. The program examined several initiatives, concepts and tools launched, elaborated and offered by the European Union, such as the Smart Specialization concept, Interregional Innovation Investments (I3) Instrument, the Partnerships for Regional Innovation pilot, Regional Innovation Valleys).

CARE-C was represented by Ms Marina Papageorgiou, Managing Coordinator of CARE-C and Coordinator of the Horizon Europe funded project “ENVRINNOV”, working to create a common innovation roadmap for EU Research Infrastructures in the environment domain. Marina participated as a panellist in the session “Success stories from winning projects” on the 13th of November, sharing her experience with the ENVRINNOV project.
