CARE-C at the 2nd International Conference on Applications of Air Quality in Science and Engineering (ICAAQSE), Kuwait

The Cyprus Institute’s Climate and Atmosphere Research Centre Director, Prof. Jean Sciare delivered a keynote lecture at the 2nd International Conference on Applications of Air Quality in Science and Engineering (ICAAQSE), held in Kuwait from 09–11 February 2026. The conference was organised by the Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR) and brought together leading regional experts to discuss advances in air quality research and its applications in science and engineering.

In his keynote address, Prof. Sciare emphasised the critical role of aerosol pollution sources in Middle Eastern cities, presenting recent scientific observations generated by CARE-C within the framework of regional collaborative projects.

A high-level visit to KISR was organised with the leadership of its Environmental & Life Sciences Research Centre. This visit led by Prof. Mohamed F. Yassin aimed to revitalise the CyI – KISR scientific cooperation and advance discussions on renewing the Memorandum of Understanding between the two institutions. Discussions focused on joint research initiatives and strengthening air pollution observation networks across the Middle East to support effective mitigation and adaptation strategies.
