CARE-C researchers join 7th HAAR Summer School 2025
Researchers from the Climate and Atmosphere Research Center (CARE-C) of the Cyprus Institute actively participated in the 7th HAAR (Hellenic Association for Aerosol Research) Summer School, 2025, held from 12 to 18 June 2025 at Navarino Environmental Observatory (NEO) in Messinia, Greece.
This year’s summer school focused on ‘Theory and practice of aerosol chemistry and engineering for climate, air quality, emissions and health effects’. The program aims to equip young researchers (Master and PhD students mainly) with hands-on training in cutting-edge instruments for analysing atmospheric aerosols, data interpretation techniques, and contextualising findings in relation to climate change.
CARE-C researchers contributed actively to the program:
- Prof. George Biskos delivered a lecture on “Novel sensors for aerosol measurements.”
- Asst. Prof. Efstratios Bourtsoukidis presented on “Gas phase precursors of aerosols.”
- Dr. Michael Pikridas, Associate Research Scientist, gave a technical session on “Back-trajectory analysis,” highlighting tools such as HYSPLIT, Flexpart, Zefir, and cluster analysis techniques.
The 7th HAAR Summer School was co-funded by participant registration, HAAR and the Horizon Europe CleanCloud project, of which CARE-C is a key partner, highlighting cross-border collaboration in addressing atmospheric and climate-related challenges.
